Transportation Port & Airport
Airports and ports play an important role as a window to the international community, contributing to national economic development, industrial and regional economic revitalization, regional development, and improvement of the quality of life of the people, and as a foundation for international exchange and strengthening the international competitiveness of industry.
Ports and airports in Japan have already been developed and located in areas where they are needed. In the future, it will be necessary to promote the development of hub airports and ports, upgrade their functions, and ensure safety and security from the perspective of earthquake resistance and disaster prevention security, while strengthening international competitiveness, improving regional vitality, and promoting regional development. Furthermore, reducing the environmental burden and coexistence with the surrounding residents and communities are also becoming increasingly important.
The overseas port and airport sector provides services at all stages of a project. We support the economic development of developing countries by developing safe, secure, and comfortable port and airport facilities while using the latest Japanese technology to promote global logistics and human flow.
Engineering Services
We are involved in the study and design of earthquake, tsunami, and storm surge countermeasures for ports, fishing ports, and coastal facilities, including seismic and tsunami resistant design of facilities and numerical simulation of storm surge and waves, in order to respond to the increasingly severe and frequent occurrence of large-scale earthquakes and climate change in order to strengthen the national land structure. In recent years, we have been working on the development of a Carbon Neutral Port (CNP) formation plan to promote decarbonization efforts in ports and harbors.
Many airports in Japan are expanding and improving their facilities to meet the increasing and diversifying aviation demand in recent years, and Nippon Koei is involved in planning, surveying, and designing civil engineering facilities at airports and heliports throughout Japan. In addition, we are actively involved in near-future projects such as flying cars and space ports.
In Southeast Asia, South Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Central and South America, we provide planning, design, and construction supervision services for container terminals, bulk terminals, general merchandise terminals, as well as energy ports such as LNG terminals. In Vietnam and Bangladesh, we have accumulated many years of data to conduct high-quality route burial studies. We are also working on the use of BIM/CIM for berth design and efficient 3D structural calculations.
In Southeast Asia, South Asia, and Central and South America, we provide planning, design, and construction supervision for coastal erosion and beach loss due to sea level rise caused by global warming and other factors. We have accumulated many years of data on Bali Beach in Indonesia and provide high quality consulting services.
The Aviation Department provides aviation policy, airport planning, design, construction supervision, and operation and maintenance support services for runways and other airport civil engineering, airport terminal construction, utilities, and aviation security and other facilities related to aviation and airports in a wide range of regions including Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, the Pacific, Africa, and Latin America.
