Manufacture of Equipment and Devices

The company is responsible for manufacturing Francis turbines and various other types of turbines used in hydropower generation, manufacturing various types of substation equipment such as substation control equipment and cooling towers, as well as manufacturer operations such as the construction of centralised substation monitoring systems and dam management systems, which are indispensable for stable power transmission operations.

Main technical services

In recent years, hydropower generation as a natural energy source has been attracting attention. The Company is using its wealth of experience and comprehensive technology to improve reliability and functionality through digitisation of various control devices, and is engaged in research and development of equipment that meets the needs of the times.
In hydropower generation, one of the renewable energies necessary for the formation of a low-oxygen society, the Company manufactures Pelton turbines, propeller turbines and other types of turbines, with the Francis turbine representing a wide range of applications. Currently, water turbines and generators are in operation at approximately 150 locations across the country in accordance with various drop-off and flow conditions, contributing to a stable supply of electricity. In addition to water turbine generators, which are the main equipment, control equipment such as regulators, excitation devices and monitoring and control systems are also manufactured.

Water turbines and generators
Water turbines are designed and manufactured for a number of models, including Francis turbines, which have the widest range of applications, Pelton turbines and propeller turbines. Generators are designed and manufactured to a wide range of conventional specifications and based on the operation of the water turbine and the conditions of the power system. In addition to higher efficiency water turbines, the company has also developed air-cooled and electrically powered technology to adopt waterless, oilless and brushless systems, and has achieved reduced maintenance and inspections by eliminating cooling water facilities and pressure oil equipment and simplifying facilities.
Magnetic Bearings
This is a revolutionary active bearing that uses the electromagnetic attractive force of electromagnets to rotate the rotating shaft without contact. The use of magnetic bearings eliminates the need for lubricating oil and cooling water, making water turbines and generators more efficient and simpler. Furthermore, the operating status of the water turbine generator can be monitored using the magnetic bearing's control sensors.
Electric Governors
PID control ensures stable speed control. The use of an electric servomotor allows the servomotor to be oil-free, improving maintainability.
Brushless exciter, digital AVR
Brushes in the current-collecting ring and commutator have been eliminated, which have traditionally been a bottleneck in terms of maintenance and reliability, while the digital control system using DSP has improved responsiveness and reliability. (A non-contact earth fault detector can also be added.)
Magnetic fluidic seal
The magnetic fluid completely eliminates the gap between the bearing and rotating shaft and shuts out oil mist from the gap. The use of permanent magnets keeps the magnetic fluid in place, so no special power supply is required and the system is maintenance-free.
Centralised monitoring and control system
In recent years, the management and operation of power facilities has become increasingly complex and important. We are developing centralised monitoring and control computer systems with excellent reliability, operability, expandability and maintainability, combining technology accumulated in the power engineering business with the latest computer technology.
Substation centralised monitoring and control computer systems
The comprehensive monitoring panel, which monitors and controls the status of substations in real time, uses a liquid crystal projector and can comprehensively monitor power equipment at up to 75 substations. As the environment is so severe that even a momentary system stoppage is not permitted, a multiplexed configuration is adopted for all equipment, which performs everything from the monitoring and operation functions of substation equipment, automatic creation of operation procedure lists and processing of execution functions, to the processing of information processing coordination with other systems. In addition, each device is decentralised to improve reliability, scalability and processing capacity.
Large-capacity substation centralised monitoring and control computer systems.
This monitoring and control system was developed to ensure accurate and labour-saving centralised management of large-capacity substations that surround metropolitan areas.
Operation and Maintenance Support System
It supports efficient substation operations and rapid response to emergency maintenance.

The Company develops and manufactures everything from general switchboards to monitoring and control panels for electric power. Based on the results of many years of research and development and the know-how gained through advanced design and manufacturing in switchboards, monitoring and control systems are multifunctional and high-density, using the latest electronics technology.

Reduced-size monitoring and control panels with optical communication support
Used for direct control of substations. The control (monitoring and control panel) and equipment direct connection (interface panel) are connected by optical communication, enabling a reduction in the number of control cables and the decentralised arrangement of equipment. In addition, the front-maintenance structure enables wall-mounting and flexible layout for substation construction, which saves space in the monitoring room.

It is used to parallel power systems in substations. We have more than 20 years' experience with this equipment.
Reduced-size monitoring and control panels for thermal power stations
It has the function of a direct control panel for thermal power station substation equipment. The control sections are integrated together, reducing the proprietary area by two-thirds compared to conventional panel types.

The specifications of the remote monitoring and control equipment installed in power stations and substations vary according to needs and capacity. We have made the logic part of the system as software-intensive as possible and standardised it to enable the design and production of systems that meet the capacity and needs of the customer.

Small-scale centralised monitoring and control computer system
As a distant monitoring and control parent station system, it links information with multiple child stations. It has functions for monitoring and operating equipment and consolidating measurement information. High reliability and low power consumption are achieved by optimising the hardware.

It monitors and controls underground transmission facilities that serve as the city's energy load, and communicates and processes information about them.
Information transmission equipment for thermal power stations
Equipment that monitors and controls thermal power substation substations and efficiently operates and manages the linkage with thermal power generation equipment.
Remote supervisory control unit
Unmanned and labour-saving systems are promoted by monitoring and controlling power facilities at power stations from a distance. In addition, there are relay devices for distribution line switchgear control that relay information on substation facilities and distribution network monitoring information for the control of distribution line pole switchgear, and link the information together.
Comprehensive monitoring panel for underground power transmission facilities
The system is designed to monitor the efficient operation of cooling facilities and underground line-related equipment in high-voltage underground transmission lines. The system links information between the systems of the underground line management department and the grid management department.
Transmission Blocking Device
Instantaneous transmission of shutdown commands to prevent independent operation (grid protection) of power generation equipment connected to the power system, such as IPP, etc. 50 km transmission distance and high-speed transmission performance are achieved at a low cost.
Data Logger Systems
The system stores and automatically edits information on the condition of electrical station equipment, accidents and abnormalities, and measurement information. To assist patrol work, a mobile terminal can be used to collect information. It also has the capability to link information with other equipment using telephone lines.
Cooling tower
Cooling towers used in large transformers, such as in underground substations, have traditionally been of the open type, but in recent years sealed cooling towers have been widely used. In sealed cooling towers, the cooling water does not come into direct contact with the atmosphere, which prevents contaminants from entering the circulating water system and increases the service life of pipes and other components, thereby increasing the reliability and service life of the entire facility. In recent years, a function has been added that automatically stops the wet cooler and operates the air blower according to the transformer load status, thereby saving a significant amount of water and reducing running costs.

We have been repairing transformers and other power equipment and installations since 1946. Based on the technology and experience gained through these repairs and modifications, we manufacture accessory equipment such as cooling towers and conservatories. We also carry out elephantisation, which covers up the high-voltage bushing exposed charging section of existing transformers, and low-noise conversion.

Transformer maintenance
For transformers and their peripheral equipment, the company offers a wide range of support services, such as maintenance and repair.
Active oil purifiers and filter media
The live line oil purifier prevents the insulating oil used in the tap changer from deteriorating. In addition, carbon and impurities generated by the switching operations performed in the insulating oil are removed by the filter media built into the live line oil purifier.
Oilless breather (moisture-absorbing respirator)
Moisture absorbing breathers are used as devices to prevent moisture absorption in power transformers and insulating oil tanks. Oilless breathers are oil-free thanks to the development of the breathing valve, which eliminates the need for refilling, replacing or disassembling oil.
Transformer Auxiliary Cooling System
The temperature of the transformer body is constantly monitored and sprayed with spray water when the temperature rises, enabling a simple improvement in transformer efficiency operation.
Blocking coils (line traps)
Power line transport communications use power lines to transmit information for telephony and remote control. Blocking coils are inserted in series with power lines and are effective in reducing transmission path losses, stabilising transmission characteristics and preventing interference in the transmission path in power line transport.

Closed Cooling Tower
Cooling towers for water-cooled transformers and other power equipment have traditionally been of the open type, but in recent years sealed cooling towers have been widely adopted. In sealed cooling towers, the cooling water does not come into direct contact with the atmosphere, so there is no corrosion or contamination by harmful substances, and the overall reliability and longevity of the equipment can be increased.
Underground substations and water-cooled cooling systems
The company designs, manufactures and installs water-cooled cooling systems for large-capacity underground substation transformers and other equipment in city centres. The cooling towers are sealed to ensure environmental friendliness.
Air-sealed cell type conservator
Oil-resistant rubber cells are installed in the conservator to isolate the oil picture from the atmosphere and prevent the deterioration of the insulating oil used in oil-filled electrical equipment. It is currently used in a wide range of transformers and reactors.

With the development of communication and control equipment, there is a growing need for advanced computer-based systems. We have built our own networked systems by combining the know-how and analysis technology we have accumulated through dam management and landslide investigations with computer communication technology.
