Nippon Koei is... caring, enhancing, sustaining
Our multi-disciplinary focus and genuine desire to make a positive impact
wherever we work makes it only natural that we should be a provider of the
highest quality environmental consulting services available today. Through
all our projects we seek to strike the ideal balance between development,
poverty alleviation, and environmental care.
Nippon Koei environmental specialists cover a wide range of fields, from
soil, forest, and biological scientists to waste management and pollution
control engineers. The depth and breadth of our expertise allows us to provide
environmental solutions for world heritage wildernesses and urban
slums alike; from watershed management planning to construction of sanitary
landfills, we've got the environment covered.
Planning and managing
Our expertise in environmental planning and management has been successfully applied to numerous studies leading to the adoption of realistic and innovative plans. We have prepared comprehensive environmental plans for the management of Ha Long Bay in Vietnam (a UNESCO World Heritage site) and Lubana wetland complex in Latvia (a Ramsar nominated wetland). We have also conducted watershed management plans in the Philippines and Laos---plans in which the participation of local people has been paramount.
Caring for the living environment
Population growth and economic development place inevitable pressures on the environment. Our blend of engineering, environmental, and institutional experts are able to provide the exact plans and engineering solutions needed to solve the challenges presented when growth outstrips the capacity to control pollution and manage solid and liquid waste. Nippon Koei projects have contributed to the enhancement of the living environment in a diversity of locations: China for solid waste management; Philippines for sewerage and sanitation; Zimbabwe for water pollution control; and Jakarta for air quality management.
Balancing needs
We provide a full range of environmental and social impact assessment procedures for projects of all types and sizes. We make sure that the development imperatives are properly balanced against environmental issues. In one notable study, we assembled a team of world-renowned scientists to conduct detailed studies and modeling to predict the effects of a proposed dam on coastal lagoon systems on the Ta Trach River, Vietnam.
