Energy

  • Nippon Koei is... brightening the future

Access to cheap, clean energy is fundamental to the modernization and economic development of any aspiring nation. The study, design, and construction of energy facilities, especially hydro-electric power stations, is core strength at Nippon Koei. We have been involved in hydropower development, the original renewable energy source, since our earliest days and commenced our first overseas hydropower assignment in 1954, providing a full range of engineering services for the 84 MW Baluchaung No. 2 Hydro-electric Power Project in Myanmar. Since then we have worked on over 70 hydropower schemes, 30 of which have been carried to full completion. We have also provided services for numerous conventional energy projects and are currently very active in the field of emerging technologies for renewable energy.

  • Strategic analysis

Nippon Koei is a leader in electric power consulting. We have undertaken nationwide hydropower planning in Indonesia and Korea. At smaller scales we also study the role of hydropower in integrated water resource development plans for whole river basins.

  • Complete package

Not only do we analyze power needs and identify optimal development plans, we also provide all feasibility analysis, design, procurement, and construction management for dams, power stations, and transmission systems. Where challenges arise, we rise to meet them. In a recent study in Nepal, we designed a warning and safety system to protect a hydro-electric power scheme from the threat of a glacial lake outbreak flood.
From the rehabilitation of a single turbine or penstock to broad scale strategic analysis and planning, Nippon Koei is the logical choice for providing electric power engineering services.

  • Seeking new beginnings

The long-term sustainability of life on planet Earth as we know it today cannot be assured until we can produce enough renewable energy to replace that which we derive from fossil fuels. Nippon Koei, with its long tradition of working in hydro-electric power, already intimately understands what renewable energy really means. From wind turbines to solar arrays to rice-husk-fired gas turbines, we are actively applying our problem-solving skills to creating a new kind of future for mankind.
